　私たち日本人は文法を気にするあまり、英語アレルギーになってしまう方もいらっしゃるかと思います。言語は不確実なものであり、言いまわしに正解というものはありません。たとえそれが間違った文法を使っていたとしても相手に意味が伝わったのならば、それでいいのです。母国語として日々使用していない以上は仕方がありません。大切なのは、コミュニケーションを図ることだと考えます。
　さて、近年は多くの国際イベント等が国内でも催されてまいりました。めまぐるしく動く現場の最前線で活躍しているのは多くのスタッフの方々です。とうぜん英語が得意な方ばかりではありません。そうかといって、なんらかの対策があるわけでもなく、そのほとんどが個人の力に頼るところでした。本書は、“とにかく早く伝える”（最低限のマナーは守りつつ）ということを前提として作成いたしました。現場の最前線で業務にあたるスタッフの方々の一助となれば幸いです。

Miya Kudo
ベルギー在住。東京都生まれ。東京外国語大学卒業、クライストチャーチ・カレッジ・オブ・イングリッシュ卒業、メルボルン・ポリテクニック会計学修士号取得。メルボルンの現地企業にて就職を経て結婚。本書が初の監修。

～メッセージ～
「好きこそものの上手なれ」というように言語習得は、学びたいという強い願望がないとなかなか習得できません。自身が学生時代に英語を学ぶのに役立った方法は、好きな映画を日本語・英語の字幕で何度もみて最終的にどちらの字幕もなしに聞き取り理解できるようにする方法でした。また歌の歌詞も意味を理解して何度も聞く。あとは実際にネイティブのお友達を作ってメールのやりとりから言い回しを学んだり、コミュニケーションを取ることに限ると思います。本書が少しでも多くの人に役立つことを祈っております。
